Hi all members,
As you probably know it has been a busy time for club members with some outstanding performances at the 1st round of the QLD Junior titles held last weekend.
Luke Glover 1st u/16, Thomas Prout 4th u/18, Laura Poncini 3rd u/18, Anna Toohey 4th u/16 and Will Carter 3rd u/14, they will all back up again in Sept for the 2nd round
to be held on the Gold Coast.
Going from the young ones to the oldies, Clive, Silky and myself travelled to Coffs Harbour for the Aussie Masters Titles last month with Silky a 1/4 final in o/40s Clive semi o/50s
and i scored a 3rd o/50s, With the weather turning it on for us, the waves were fun held at Emerald Beach just north of Coffs, the boys all had tough heats and to have 3 members from one club
make the Aussies is a great result for the club. With the Hoey Moey, ( Local Pub) , sponsoring the event there were some good times had by all. Also April Sweet made the finals in the longboard div the following week.
Sunshine Coast Council have plans for the repair of the Kings Groyne at dingle ave, Council has contacted Windansea and would like to hear comments and advice in regards to this affecting the waves.

WORTHY CAUSE: Terry Landsberg, Luca Torack, 11, and Ben Silk, of WindanSea and Disabled Surfing Association.
A BOARD riding club with a long history and a big heart has donated $2500 to organisations dedicated to helping the community’s less fortunate.
WindanSea Surf Club at Caloundra was formed in 1970 and, since 1974, has run the annual Pa Bendall Memorial Contest.
It’s that event, now held each Easter and called the Pa and Ma Bendall Memorial, which provides much of the funding for the club’s activity.
This week it gave $1000 each to the Currimundi Special School and the Disabled Surfing Association and a further $500 to the Caloundra-based Rosies Friends on the Street.
Committee member and Australian representative Terry Landsberg said that on one Tuesday a month, the club handed out hot meals to Caloundra’s homeless.
“WindanSea was born in San Diego in the US with a charter to spread the love of surfing and goodwill,” Terry said.
He said the club was proud its members were willing to help the less fortunate.
“We can get up and go for a surf in the morning. There are a lot of people who can’t experience that.”
Terry said the contest direction of club member Darren Fissenden had helped grow the Pa and Ma Bendall event to the point where it was stable and could return the support the community showed the club.
“It takes a lot of work from members and the generous support of local businesses,” he said. “The Pa’s a feel-good event.”

Windansea Surf Club
I finally got the chance to knock up another newsletter so where do we start, probably with the PA Bendall Comp I reckon.
A great performance by 15 yr old Noah Kearney to take out the opens mens division and winning $2,000 as well, Noah took out some big names along the way and is the youngest competitor in 41 yrs to win the open division, even Joel Parkinson was 17yrs old when he won. Congrats Noah and I’m sure there are some more big results coming your way mate.
Across the other divisions were some more great results from members as well, with Cutback Clive winning the Legends .
The contest was another huge success for Windansea Surf Club showing how well we can run an event. A big thank-you must go out to all members involved in running the contest.
Also great to see non-members chip in and help and with the conclusion of the day on Sunday it was amazing to see the whole event packed up and cleaned in about 2hrs.
Thanks again to all our sponsors that help us each year with this contest, its the support of local community businesses that make this a great event year after year.
We had approx 20 new members voted in at our last Monthly meeting and some great performances by everyone showing off there tube styles.
We will soon organise an evening where we can all sit down and do the judging course, with large numbers of competitors on comp days and the running of two surf banks it is important for families to be involved and help out with judging heats to keep the day rolling on.
There has been a few comps run lately, last weekend saw round 1 of Masters & Women Qld State Titles run at Dbah on the Gold Coast. With every member that entered, made a final showing the huge depth of talent we have in our club. First of all we had Silky taking out the 0/40s Div with some of the best surfing on display over the weekend, Laura Poncini came away with two 2nd places 18 & 21yr Div, Anna Toohey showing she has a huge future with a 2nd in the u/16, Also Clive & myself getting 2nd / 3rd respectively in the 0/50s ( shit its hard typing that old number down ).
Second round of States is next month up here on the Sunny Coast.
There was an Agnes comp a few weeks ago with young Elijah taking out the u/12 div, The Fox grom comp at Straddie was also run with Skye Faddy getting a 3rd in her Div, and local school districts ran last week showed a large number of club members making the team as well, Congrats to all club members.
This weekend is our annual club trip to Flat Rock Tent Park, over the years we have had all sorts of dramas with tents blown away and the odd kid getting run over in the surf by his brother, but the main thing is we always get great surf and with the forecast this year looks like it will be pumping again, Good luck to all heading down this year.
If anyone would like to you can advertise on our web page please just send any info thru our website www.windanseaboardriders.com.au
