Club Membership

The WindanSea Boardriders has over 100 members of all ages. We are a family friendly club based in Caloundra and welcome new members of all ages, social or competitor. We encourage all members to actively participate in all of the functions and programs the club has to offer. Members actively represent the Club in the community and in competitions while setting a high standard of leadership and goodwill. Members promote the club with dedication, innovative and cutting-edge surfing with style wherever they go.

WindanSea Boardriders Caloundra formed in 1970 and has produced some of Qld’s finest surfers. The club hosts the Pa & Ma Bendall surfing competition every Easter, with all members participating in the running of the event. For many years the club has also been tirelessly dedicated to building a home for the club and the local community. The clubhouse is being completed in 2023 and will be a great community asset for generations to come.

Surfing Members of all ages must have a level of competency in surfing as well as being motivated to practise and compete in order to achieve the greatest benefits from the club experience. Members are expected to actively participate in club meetings, competitions and the various club activities and programs. For members to become well rounded competitive surfers they gain maximum benefit in grass roots surfing through board riding clubs. Surfing competitions is only one aspect of this, but club members gain experience through mentoring with coaches, judges and industry innovators. Training with experienced competitive coaches, club members can gain competitive advantage by learning technique improvements and strategies for managing heats in competition. During competition surfers also gain experience in running surfing competitions and understanding the points scoring system through judging heats. There is a wide range of experiences for prospective surfers who wish to join, not to mention the support and passionate comradery that goes with our club spirit.

Social Members are also welcome to join WindanSea Boardriders. Our social members are passionate about the club and provide support in many ways. We have some legends of the surfing community including some foundation members among our social membership which is great to see. Given the long history of the club and with the construction of the clubhouse we anticipate great things coming from our social member group. Watch this space and feel free to join if you wish to support WindanSea.

Club meetings are on the first Wednesday of the month from February to November.

Monthly Club Competitions are held on the following Sunday each month 6:30am at Buderim St Ballinger Beach. Pending conditions we may move to Currimundi Beach or postpone the competition by a week.

Harcourts Junior Development Program is an intensive weekly competitive surf coaching with activities based around fostering development in competitive surfing. Our juniors are coached and mentored by very experienced and successful professional club members.

Single Fin Competition is an annual fun competition held at Moffat Beach the last weekend of January. Open to the general public it is a great morning for the family to enjoy watching a new generation try to master the old craft with mixed results. There is always a great display of old boards to check out also.

Pa & Ma Bendall Surfing Competition is held Easter Weekend at Moffat Beach and is the biggest event in the WindanSea calendar. The event is coordinated and run by members over 3 days and provides invaluable understanding of what is involved in running a major surfing event.
