2021 Qld Surf Festival

The 2021 Volkswagen Queensland Surf Festival today wrapped up the Masters Shortboard divisions in clean, two-to-three foot surf at Kings Beach, Caloundra. The event once again changed locations from yesterday in order to find the best conditions available on the wave-abundant Sunshine Coast. Kings Beach delivered some of the best waves the Festival has yet seen.

?? CONGRATULATIONS ??Wayne Stevens taking out 1st place at the Queensland Surfing Festival in the over 60.Terry Landsberg 2nd place in both over 50 and over 55, and Cam MacDougall 4th in a very tight Open Mens Final. Well done guys?

2021 Jan WindanSea 3rd Overall Usher Cup

What a weekend. Thanks to all our competitors and support crew ?Cam scoring himself Most Creative Manoeuvre, yeah Cam Reef Heazlewood placing 3rd in Open Men’s and former World tour competitor Serena Brookes pulled on the competition rashie for a Semi Final finish which put WindanSea in 3rd place overall.

It’s been a decade since former World tour competitor Serena Brookes pulled on the competition rashie, and the former world number two ranked surfer was forced to fight hard against surfing’s new brigade during the opening rounds of the inaugural Usher Cup

“I haven’t surfed in a contest in ten years, so I am excited yeah to get the jersey on again for a fun event.”

Rainbow Bay’s long sweeping waves provided plenty of scoring opportunities, but it also meant there was plenty of work to be done in between rides.

“It’s pretty hard out there, there’s a lot of paddling, so I’m tired, it’s about my fourth surf for the day”

It’s really good if you can get the right wave with nobody on it, but it’s pretty tricky just weaving in and out through the crowd, but there’s some amazing waves out there if you can get them”

After cruising through her opening heats, the twice world number two had to work hard during the quarter-finals, second place enough to secure a semi-finals berth and earn the WindanSea Boardriders club valuable Club Championship points.

Brookes then had to line up against rising stars Kobie Enright, Jay Wheatley and Grace Kama in a tough semi-final battle.

2020 Rip Curl Grom Search

2020 Dec Woolworths Grom Comp

Woolworth Grommet Comp held over the weekend in tricky conditions at Alex.@zac_attack_johnston making it to the Semi finals in 10 and under.The under 12 division we had. @calemiller24 just missing out on semis. @lucas_surf_skate and @hunter_andersson finished up in semis.@hunter_andersson finishing in the quarter finals in the 14 and under.Super tricky, windy and weird surf conditions. But our Grommies had fun and supported each other. Congratulations to the boys.
